The “Kokusai Yose (Vaudeville Theater)” event sponsored this year by the Culture Committee began at 14:00 on Saturday October 27th in Oyo Hall. Thanks to the Rakugo Geijitsu Kyokai, Sanyutei Yuba, Sanshotei Yumekichi, and Daikagura (Kyokugei) Kagami Senza paid us a visit. We hope that it was a great opportunity for all to become acquainted with Rakugo, which is gaining popularity these days and is the subject of dramas and movies. 　Decorated with lanterns from around the world, a folding screen, red carpet and zabuton floor cushion, the stage distinctly reflected Kokusai’s atmosphere. 　After Sanyutei Yuba’s commentary on Rakugo, Sanshotei Yumekichi continued with comic storytelling; Kagami Senza followed with the Daikagura presentation and Yuba wrapped up with Rakugo. The hall erupted with thrilled laughter and applause.  

The Daikagura presented for our delight has been awarded the Kokuritsu Hanagata Engei Taisho First Place Prize. Two lucky students strove to tumble a paper balloon on a turning parasol and stand long strips of paper on the palm of a hand.
