Cooperate with "International Friendship Day"
Saturday, January 17th 2009

We are happy to report that International Department teachers and International Exchange Committee students held an International friendship day event for foreign students of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies at the Oyo Hall.
About 30 people visited the school from such countries like Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia,
El Salvador, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Russia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Uganda.
The event began with a wonderful performance of our cheerleading and dance teams. Participants also enjoyed some great music performed by a volunteer band.

Next, one student from Sri Lanka sung a farming folk song, and he made the parody song with Japanese lyrics based on it. Its lyrics was that when I was taking train, a wonderful woman got on at Ginza Station. Soon after, everyone in the car paid attention to her. I came to miss it because my country and Japan reacted thoroughly. Everyone gave him a big round of applause.
At noon, we got together for lunch which was prepared by members of the PTA Culture and International Friendship Committees.

In the afternoon, foreign students experienced some traditional Japanese culture that included tea ceremony, koto music and calligraphy. We also played karta game with the foreign students reading.
We have had a wonderful exchange of cultures and friendships along with impressive photographs.
